Description
The Trust Fund is exclusively charitable and exists for the general benefit of the inhabitants of the Province of
Monmouthshire. While it was originally set up in 1997 it continues to receive funds from the Grand Charity
Relief Chest Scheme, and is designed to perpetually serve local non-Masonic charities which are designated by lodges
within the Province.
Income from the Trust Fund is available for distribution on a tri-annual basis.
Legal ownership of the Trust Fund is vested in local trustees, who are:
-
·
The RW Provincial Grand Master
-
·
The VW Deputy Provincial Grand
Master
-
·
The W Assist. Provincial Grand
Master
-
·
The Chairman of the Fund
-
·
The Provincial Grand Secretary
-
·
The Provincial Grand Charity Steward
The analysis below shows that large sums of money have been donated to local, non-masonic charities throughout
the Province. Applications are invited from Craft Lodge Secretaries after approval by the relevant Lodge Committee,
on behalf of local charitable organisations which may represent education, religion, health/medicine, relief of poverty
or any other purpose for the benefit of the community as a whole. Craft Lodges around the Province should seek to
use the Trust Fund to further charitable giving within their own particular area and to promote the benevolence of
Freemasonry within their own community. Grants will normally range up to a sum of £500 but in exceptional
circumstances can be up to £1000.
The day-to-day running of the Trust Fund is in the hands of the Management Committee appointed by the RW Provincial
Grand Master. The Management Committee consists of:
- W Brother Richard G Davies PAGReg - Chairman
- W Brother R. Neil Mounter, Provincial Grand Treasurer - Vice Chairman
- W Brother Kenneth M. Davis J.P., PProvSGD
- W Brother Richard I. Beavan
J.P., PProvSGD - Secretary
- W Brother Robert Fowler, PM, Henllys Lodge
The committee will attempt to effect a fair distribution between all areas of charity throughout the Province on an
equal geographical basis over a period of time. Please note that no consideration will be given to applications on
behalf of the three hospices within the Province as each of these receive an annual grant from the Grand Charity.
Freemasons in Monmouthshire worked extremely hard to establish the Trust Fund and the membership can now enjoy the
fruits of hard labour by freely helping those in their own communities who are less fortunate or in need. Further
information and forms of application can be obtained from:
Richard I. Beavan, J.P. Melrose, Leach Rd, Bettws,
Newport, NP20 6AF
The decision of the Management Committee concerning all applications is final.
